Having insurance can lessen the impact of health care expenses

And having a knowledgeable person help with your insurance planning makes it a lot easier.

How I Can Help You

With over 30 years experience with health care expense products I work with consumers and many times, their other Advisors, to research and apply for insurance products that will help pay for care provided after a person's Physician diagnoses them as needing assistance with 2 or more of life's daily activities or a severe cognitive impairment.

You may have read, or been told by someone, that getting Long or Short Term Care insurance is a thing of the past or that you may be too old, too young, or it is too expensive or that what you get today is only going to have significant premium increases in the future; but none of those are necessarily the case.  There are insurance carriers offering policies that may provide some variation of the coverage you want, meet your budget and may even offer premiums that are guaranteed for as long as you have the policy.  And in many cases you don't have to be "perfect" to qualify for a policy.

Today's insurance products address financial needs starting with the most basic "extended health care", normally in one's home, to more comprehensive coverage policies which pay benefits for care at home, assisted living, nursing homes and even when convalescing.

It is a common thought that extended health care insurance means someone has to into a nursing home, but on the contrary, having a policy may be the very thing that allows you or a loved one to stay home longer than if no policy is in place.  Long or short term care policy claims provide money to pay for care which may otherwise not be there.

I work with carriers offering comprehensive products, stand alone home health care policies and even nursing home only plans based.  Availability is based on your age, health, budget, needs and state of residence.

If an insurance policy is a suitable solution, I will help you apply for it and get it in place.  When you qualify for a claim, your insurance policy will provide funds to help cover some of the costs of care and relieve some of the financial burdens that or a living you may otherwise face.  Even those who can afford care or who have set aside funds may find an insurance product a favorable alternative to self funding 100% of their expenses.

I do not charge planning or consulting fees when helping you decide if an extended health care insurance option is right for you or a family member.

Evaluation of Needs

Frequently, a Financial Planner has already worked with our clients to form solid foundations for sufficient income in retirement, not only to live well but to financially enjoy post accumulation years.  Thankfully, the risk of "long term care" is often identified by the planning team and clients are referred to us to determine if there are viable insurance options available to address the cost of care risks and to help the secure coverage if suitable.

Your health, financial needs and budget for insurance premiums all need to be considered when evaluating your options.

Costs That May Impact Retirement Income and Planning

While health insurance is typically the first resource for "care expenses" what happens when your needs go beyond health insurance or Medicare coverage?  It's simple, you have to spend some of your income or savings to cover the costs.  As a result, a part of the nest egg that you planned to use for "living" now goes to care providers, facilities or care specialists to cover your care expenses.

We have also seen care needs for parents falling on our clients.  Rather than leaving it up to the "kids" to provide care or funds to subsidize the cost of extended health care we suggest you help them with planning ahead.  In fact about 25% of our clients are the "kids" looking for options for aging parents or family members who may or may not be able to otherwise afford the care they may need.

My goal is to help you and your family avoid having a great income gap due to the cost of health care when an insurance option may be available.
